  •  OBJECTIVES:
  1. Outline the rationale for transition to Competency-by Design (CBD)
  2. Discuss the components of CBD
  3. Describe the process of transition to CBD
  4. Describe the role of Entrada and how it will be used.
  • PRESENTER: Dr. Sonia Butterworth,Clinical Professor, Pediatric Surgery, UBC Associate Dean, UBC PGME, CBME Lead, UBC PGME
BIO: Dr. Butterworth graduated from UBC medical school in 1997, UBC General Surgery in 2003 and from the UBC Pediatric Surgery fellowship in 2005.  She worked as a Pediatric Surgeon in Portland, OR until 2008 when she returned as an attending staff at BCCH.  Dr. Butterworth has a passion for surgical education and has had the opportunity to become involved in several roles. Dr. Butterworth was the Program Director for Pediatric Surgery, Associate Program Director for General Surgery as well as the Co-Lead for Simulation at PGME.  She was the Program Director for Surgical Foundations from 2013-2019.  In 2017, Dr. Butterworth became the Competency Based Medical Education Lead for UBC PGME, and in 2019, the Associate Dean of Postgraduate Medical Education, UBC.
